OUR TEAM
We are a collaborative network focused developing community, tools and resources to educate undergraduate biology students to better communicate science.
Dale Broder Pronouns: she/her; they/theirs Identity: Non-binary In the classroom, the lab, and in my community engagement, I use authentic science experiences that emphasize science communication to increase understanding of the scientific process as a way of knowing and to increase self-confidence and interest in science careers. |
Shannon Murphy RCN TEAM LEADER Pronouns: she/her I am a professor at the University of Denver and I study how insects and plants interact with each other and how they are affected by human activities. I first became interested in SciComm as an undergraduate student when I took my first class about how to communicate science through writing - and learned that I was terrible at it! I have loved learning about and engaging with others who love SciComm ever since. |
David Westmoreland Pronouns: he/him Identity: Raised in a fringe religion that saw science as a threat Raised as a young-earth creationist, I became an evolutionary biologist after realizing that something had gone amiss in my early exposure to science; since then I have been interested in how to effectively communicate science to everyone. |
